There are over a billion people living on less than $1 a day, 70% of them are women and nearly 50% of the world’s population (2.8 billion) live on less than $2 a day. More than 2.6 billion people do not have basic sanitation. Every 3 seconds, a child dies of hunger or preventable disease. It is estimated that five people die from AIDS every minute. The list goes on, even though the world today has enough resources, knowledge and technologies to eradicate poverty. To address such issues, in a historical event of the United Nations (UN), the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were drawn from the UN Millennium Declaration.
CUUNA’s campaigns are aligned with the ideals and objectives of the UN, its agencies and supporting networks with particular attention to the MDGs. Furthermore, with half the world’s population under the age of 25 ONLY WITH YOUR VOICE can this be achieved! So join our events and campaigns!
