Welcome to CUUNA!
We're Alex and Jazz and we are the current Presidents of the Cambridge University United Nations Association. Alex is a Third year Physics PhD student and Jazz is a finalist reading for the Natural Sciences Tripos.
The Association’s history is long and rich, stretching back several decades, with several former CUUNA members having gone on to lead long and successful careers at the UN both in New York and elsewhere around the globe.
The work of CUUNA today is divided into three primary categories: firstly we liaise with other Youth Associations locally within the UK, regionally within Europe, and globally in New York; secondly we put on weekly debate training sessions for our Model UN delegates who compete in UK and international MUN conferences; furthermore we raise awareness of the work of the UN on campus through holding external speakers’ events with diplomats, UN staff, visiting Professors, etc.
This upcoming academic year will be very exciting for the Association, as we seek to expand our attendance at more European UNYA events and domestic MUN conferences, whilst also boosting the attendances of the two annual conferences that we host to record levels. With the opportunity to travel, engage with other talented young people across the globe, and be a part of one of Cambridge’s oldest and most far-reaching student societies, I hope your CUUNA experience will be as fun, inspiring and enriching as ours.
